Draw names or make random groups from a list

Useful for calling on students, raffles, breakout groups or speaking order: drop the list in (a whole table is fine, one person per row), choose Pick and a number, or Groups and a group count — the result appears instantly, and “Draw again” re-rolls. Groups are as even as possible; when it does not divide, the first groups get one extra. It uses the browser’s random numbers — every draw is different and nothing is pre-set.

Is it really random?

The list is shuffled with the browser’s random number generator (a Fisher–Yates shuffle); every row has the same chance and nothing is pre-set.

What if the groups do not divide evenly?

The first groups get one extra — 10 people in 3 groups gives 4, 3, 3.

Do I get the whole row?

Yes, whole rows come out with every column.

How do I avoid drawing the same person twice?

Within one draw nobody repeats. For several rounds, remove previous winners from the list first.

Can the list be a single column?

Yes, paste a column of names; untick “First row is a header” if there is none.

Is the list uploaded?

No, it all happens in your browser.
