Remove duplicate rows from Excel online

Drop an Excel file (.xlsx / .xls) or a CSV, choose which columns make two rows “the same”, and the de-duplicated table appears right below — with how many rows you started with, how many are left and how many were removed. Download it as Excel or CSV, or keep editing in the online spreadsheet. Leading and trailing spaces are ignored when comparing; with no column selected, a row only counts as a duplicate when every cell matches.

  • No fuzzy matching — “Anna” and “Ana”, or full-width vs half-width digits, are different
  • Colours, fonts and formulas are not kept — the export contains values
  • One sheet at a time; duplicates across sheets are not compared

Will my original file be changed?

No. The original is only read; the result is a new file you download.

Is the comparison case-sensitive?

Yes — “Apple” and “apple” are different values. Leading and trailing spaces are ignored.

What about the header row?

By default the first row is treated as a header: it is never compared and always kept. If your table has no header, untick “First row is a header”.

How large a table can it handle?

We set no limit — it depends on your device’s memory. Tens of thousands of rows usually take a second or two on a laptop; phones are slower.

Are formulas kept?

No. Cells are read as their values, so the export has numbers and text. To keep formulas, use Data ▸ Remove duplicates in the online spreadsheet.

Does it work with WPS files?

Yes for .xlsx / .xls / .csv saved from WPS; save .et files as .xlsx first.
